Karolyn Lee MD FCFP FAAFP

Hi, I'm Karolyn Lee, a family physician from the island portion of Newfoundland and Labrador, Canada.  I trained in rural family medicine through Memorial University of Newfoundland.  After a 2 year long distance relationship, locuming in rural Newfoundland and caring for First Nations Populations in Northern Ontario, I immigrated to the USA for love.  I am settled in New England with my husband, 3 children and 2 guinea pigs! I have been caring for patients in a suburban practice for the past 16 years.

I'll be honest. I did not know a thing about life coaching and certainly did not think it was for me.  In fact, I thought it was the exact opposite of something I would sign up for. I did a little research. I found the benefits of coaching have to do with neuroplasticity and there are randomized control trials to support the benefits of life coaching for physicians. I was interested. In an ad for physician coaching I read a word that resonated with me. The word?  "Stuck."  Knowing other physicians felt this and there was a way to move forward provided me with something bigger.  Hope.  Then, the cascade.  I started to do thought work bit by bit on the things that had me stuck in a spin of negative self talk or an anxiety spiral. Things that kept me in my own way, if truth be told. Bit by bit, I have been able to train my brain to work for me, not against me. This has saved me so much mental energy! I no longer feel burned out, exhausted or resentful. I feel as though I have found myself again.

Start by starting!
